Kaymet has been making aluminumware since 1947, when founder Sydney Schreiber set out to repurpose machinery used to make parts for radios and radar equipment during World War II. This lap tray, designed in 1965, was brushed, pressed, hand-finished, and then anodized for durability at the company’s south London factory. It is backed by black rubber, with grips that protrude through the aluminum top to create a non-slip surface, whether for a laptop or breakfast in bed. Two rolled handles and folding legs make for easy transport.
