Founded as an upholstery business in the Dutch town of Maastricht, Artifort took on its present name in 1928. It is derived from the Latin “ars,” meaning art or knowledge, and “fortis,” meaning strong or powerful. The notion of comfort is also embedded into the company, which offers enduring, authoritative, and delightful furniture designed by the likes of Pierre Paulin, Geoffrey Harcourt, René Holten, and Patrick Norguet.
