From House to Home:
The Enduring Ease of Tenfold New York

Photographed by Hanna Tveite

Ease is the art of making the deliberate—that which has been carefully considered, thoughtfully planned, and painstakingly realized—look effortless. It is far easier to achieve with an elegantly oversized cashmere sweater or a faded-to-perfection pair of jeans than in a living space, where tightly coordinated elements can take on a precious air while even the most calculated approach to casual may appear arbitrary and disorganized. Between these two extremes lies the enduring ease of Tenfold New York, a new collection of homegoods available exclusively on The Line and at The Apartment by The Line.

Tenfold transcends today’s ubiquitous, basic homegoods in favor of the exquisite and the enduring. It is an invitation to collect, combine, and cherish special pieces distinguished by old-world craftsmanship and American ease. Spanning categories ranging from bed linens and bath textiles to vessels and accessories, the new collection is a source of adaptable elements that are designed to be used daily and treasured for years to come.

The subtle yet polished palette—seasonless hues such as chalk, cream, oatmeal, graphite, and slate—allows Tenfold to be at home in the city and the suburbs, in the country and by the shore. Each item can stand on its own but was developed as part of a collection, and so also combines and layers easily.

Made in New York City, Tenfold toss pillows move easily among settings and seasons. Cotton and linen versions offer two tonal options in one strikingly textured pillow—simply flip for a fresh look—while another pairs textures or tones for a subtle play of contrasts. Also pictured: Tenfold Soft Stripe Cashmere Throw, Washed Linen All-Use Textile, Fringed Alpaca Throw
A powder-coated matte finish unites the lines and curves of Tenfold metal accessories, coming soon to The Line. Made in India, the set includes a tray, two lidded containers, a soap dish, a cylindrical bin, and a tissue box cover. All wipe clean, making them ideal for bath or kitchen as well as bedroom or desktop.
The organic and rayon fibers of Tenfold terry towels (bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth) are imbued with charcoal during the spinning process, giving the finished woven textile all of the purifying power of this natural resource. Also pictured: Tenfold White Lines Washcloth and Chestnut Milk Soap (coming soon)
Tenfold bridges the definitions of a house and a home: a place of both function and beauty, revelation and intimacy, ritual and amenity.

The versatility of Tenfold is especially apparent in the collection’s range of bed linens, which are sold individually rather than in sets. Italian-made washed percale and washed linen sheeting can be mixed to take advantage of the smooth surface of one and the breathability of the other. An oversized expanse of linen can replace a duvet in the warmer months—or double as a picnic blanket. A lightweight yet lofty cashmere throw transforms into the ultimate wrap.

Tenfold also adds a special touch to the bath, with towels that gain texture from fine ribbing or traditional terry loops infused with charcoal for a heathered look and a purifying effect. Finishing touches take the form of a gauzy cotton robe and a growing range of accessories made of ceramic, metal, soapstone, and marble. From a hand-splattered vase to a sleek black metal tray, these objects bring a sense of order to any room, confronting clutter not with rigor but with ease.

  • A smoky splatter invigorates a pair of Tenfold ceramic vessels, created in partnership with Portland, Oregon-based Kati Von Lehman. The tall and short vases can be used to hold flowers one day and kitchen utensils or office supplies the next.
Tenfold’s bath range looks to the serenity and precision of Japan, where items ranging from a pure cotton bath mat to charcoal-infused towels were made. The gauzy cotton robe is a beautifully crafted blank canvas in which to start and end the day, and comes tucked in a washed linen tote.
Tenfold find its sartorial equivalent in the timeless, versatile, exquisitely crafted pieces of labels such as Lemaire, Protagonist, and Myriam Schaefer. The collection’s luxurious cashmere throws, woven in northern Italy, include a two-tone version bordered by a soft fringe in alternating tones of warp and weft. Draped around the shoulders, it becomes the ultimate wrap. Also pictured: Proenza Schouler Geometric D’Orsay Pump, Protagonist Coat 03 Double-Breasted Overcoat, Myriam Schaefer Byron Bag

Tenfold is an invitation to collect, combine, and cherish special pieces distinguished by old-world craftsmanship and American ease.
