Selected by Pernille Teisbaek:
‘Timeless yet Eye-Catching’ Pieces to Treasure
The secret to Pernille Teisbaek’s enviable and effortless-looking wardrobe is editing. “I invest in a few good pieces every season,” says the Copenhagen-based stylist behind Look de Pernille, the blog she started in 2012 as a window into her creative inspirations and sartorial decisions. During a recent visit to The Apartment by The Line – New York, she sought out classic pieces with a twist.
“It’s all about the details,” says Teisbaek, pointing to the broad sash belt of a boiled wool coat from Acne Studios and reaching for a pair of Protagonist trousers with exposed cuffs. “I’ve been looking for the perfect menswear pants—a pair that works with both heels and flats, and I think I finally found them.” A connoisseur of chunky knits, she narrows the options to J.W. Anderson’s ribbed sweater with attached scarf (“the perfect winter duo to keep me warm”), deciding to complement the relaxed silhouette with crocodile-embossed mules that are “between a classic loafer and a cozy slipper.”
Teisbaek is also on the hunt for “treasures” that will personalize her new apartment. “It’s so important to have a place where you really feel at home and can recharge,” says the frequent traveler, who favors Scandinavian design classics such as the Henning Koppel pitcher she uses daily and Poul Kjærholm’s PK22 lounge. “I inherited this chair in brown leather from my grandmother and wouldn’t mind adding another to my home,” she says. And while a favorite Irving Penn photograph is not in her current budget, she is prepared to indulge in earrings that share certain qualities with the vibrant still life: “They are timeless yet eye-catching, which is the perfect balance.”
